Last Day of Groundhog Season
While waiting in line at the market, the woman ahead of me didn't have a Ralph's ® Club card, and was in danger of losing an unknown amount of money in discounts for her purchases. I quickly interveined and keyed in my discount code before her purchase was completed and saved her a whole $1 on cat food.
She was touched, as you can imagine, and thanked me. Then she went as far as to ask me why I felt compelled to do that.
"I'm saving up Kharma, I need all the help I can get!" I told her. Then I gathered up my cape, and flew off into the sunset.
I've been working on another blog as of late, trying to entertain potential donors and get some money for the AIDS/Lifecycle ride that I'm doing in June.
For those who don't know, it's a charity event. I am riding my bike 585 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles, California in an effort to raise money for AIDS relief services in my local community. I need to raise $2,500 USD to participate, and all the funds I raise are tax deductable for the donor.
For donations of $25 or more, I'm providing donors with an Official AIDSLifecycle wrist band. It's enscribed with the words "We Can, We Will, We Must" and it comes in Day Glo Orange, one of our signature colors.
For donations of $50 or more, I'm providing a T-shirt with the graphic of the rider with donor shadow, pictured above on the left.
For those of you reading this, if you would like to donate you can visit the AIDSLifecycle webpage set up for me at http://www.aidslifecycle.org/3886, or you can visit my ride blog and download the donor form in .pdf format, by clicking here.
Thanks to all who have helped out with donations, and to those who intend to help, Thanks in Advance!
Last Note: My AIDS/Lifecycle page has been customized and updated.
There you can find information on how to donate, why I'm riding, and how to get yourself one of these fabuous T-shirts I've been blabbing about.
(Did I just write 'Fabulous'?)

Donate $25 before March 15th and get this neat little trinket as a thank you from me.
A schnazzy rubber wristband.

I've done this ride-for-aids- thing a few times already, so I have pics!.

Dining with the Marge
Aunt Marge was cooking last Saturday, so Jay and I spun down the 5 to Oceanside to get a taste of her homeade Mac and Cheese dish. We figured after dinner there would be a half-hour of Jeapordy of Wheel of Fortune and we'd be tiptoeing out the door while she snored in her lazy-boy.
Not so. Marge dug into her closet and pulled out a genuine imitation stradivarius and started tuning up.
Dinner wrapped up, but the party went on with a good hour of "Fiddle pickin and Grinnin".
We left the condo for cousin Marnies place (She's always up for a good time) and hell, it was only 9:30. Got there and the lights were dark. What a bummer!
So we turned around and found our way back to the condo to make our own party.
Poor Marnie, she's really going to hear about this one!
Jay and I felt like we were at a frat house party, strummin' singing and stompin our feet. I'm sure we put at least three bottles of Charles Shaw wine down the trash shoot that night, and kept going! Yeeha for 2-buck Chuck!
It was Saturday night and I got home at 1:45 a.m. I never thought I'd be carrying my shoes into the house after a late night shindig at Margies place, but hey, she's only 80-something.
Like Gramma Gaebel used to say- only the good die young!

Adios Silver Ridge
Stopped by the old shack to find Ogino had painted and freshened up, but damn, he was serious about the yard work.
He didn't just take out a tree or two, he leveled the place.
Nothing was left of the garden. The trees, fence, pond, bamboo, all that, gone!
Looks like a tornado came through and took it all out.
It was so sad to look at, I felt my heart sink into my chest at the site of it. Thank God for memories, for that is all that remains of that magical place. That, and a few photos. . .
